The inaugural mission: bringing comfort to the mountain

Soccer Access Initiative: july 2024
Tucked into the mountainside outside Guatemala City, Casa Bernabé (The House of Comfort) provides a sanctuary for over 100 children overcoming abandonment, abuse, and neglect. For over 40 years, this ministry has been a pillar of transformation, growing from a safe haven into a comprehensive community that includes a school, a clinic, and outreach programs for families and youth.
Global Soccer Access was honored to choose this incredible, long-standing community for our inaugural donation event. In partnership with the Saving Susan Ministry, we marked our first official mission by donating 100 soccer balls to the children of the mountain.
At GSA, we believe soccer is a profound tool for healing. By providing these children with the Access to play, we aren't just giving them a ball; we are providing a defensive line against isolation and an outlet for resilience, teamwork, and joy. For kids who have faced extreme hardship, the soccer field is a place where they can reclaim their childhood and build essential life skills.
As our friends at Casa Bernabé shared, investing in soccer means supporting the aspirations and life lessons that empower these children to move toward a brighter future. This inaugural event represents the heart of our One Ball, One Shot promise: ensuring that the transformative power of sport reaches those who need the healing of the game the most.
